You will also be required to study and learn automotive engines, diesel fuel and ignition systems, brakes, transmissions, emissions, diesel power trains, electronic technology fundamentals and advanced diagnostic systems. Your career as a tractor trailer mechanic will be in high demand after you complete all of the school and training necessary, so you will most likely have a few choices on where you would like to work. Most often a mechanic will decide to work for a company that repairs, services and maintains their own vehicles and equipment.
